ICE raw sugar futures closed higher on Tuesday, rebounding after failing to fall through the two-and-a-half-year low of 12.3 cents hit last week.
In may, raw sugar futures were up 0.12 cents, or 1 percent, at 12.54 cents a pound.
The may sugar futures contract closed up 70 cents, or 0.2 percent, at $355.90 a tonne.
Short-term supply is tight and continues to support sugar prices. Nick Penney, senior dealer at Sucden Financial, said: "despite the relatively strong recent white sugar, we still think sugar prices will weaken."
